Our Services

Services provided by INRC are designed to enhance the prospects of environment and ecosystems by working with civil societies, including local communities, and policy makers. INRC’s strength is the ability to integrate its activities into a coherent program that generates and disseminates new knowledge and fosters innovative change in the ways we resolve environmental problems. To cater to these values, we provide a spectrum of services, which include amongst others:ue

  • Environmental Impact Assessment (EIA) is a tool that seeks to ensure sustainable development through the evaluation of those impacts arising from a major activity (policy, plan, program, or project) that are likely to have significant environmental effects. It is anticipatory, participatory and systematic in nature and relies on multidisciplinary input.

    INRC helps:

    • Collect baseline data relevant to the project.
    • Identify the environmental impacts for a proposed project as per the guidelines specified in the National Environment Act.
    • Identify the mitigation measures necessary for the identified impacts.
    • Prepare an Environmental Management Plan.

  • Corporates in Uganda are realizing that environmental performance makes good business sense. Thus an effective Environmental Management System (EMS) has a direct impact on profitability. It gives direct cost saving through process efficiency with critical focus on waste, energy and material management.

    Compliance with specific Environmental standards.
At INRC we offer excellent solutions to companies faced with the challenge of integrating environmental considerations into their production and marketing plans.

  • INRC has developed a range of training modules to help organization to understand their GHG emission obligation in order to reduce future risk, by implementing appropriate mitigative strategies and thereby identifying the potential carbon trading opportunities.

INRC’s tailor made in-house training introduces corporate managers to best practices regarding GHG emission management. It gives an in-depth understanding of the Kyoto Protocol’s flexibility mechanism, its operating procedure, and examines the rapidly changing policy background, legal requirements and commercial opportunities offered by the framework.

The above specialized services are customized to meet the organizational requirement and are provided by highly qualified and experienced environmental experts.

INRC provides consultancy services to organizations, institutions and industries for the compliance with specific standards like:

Environmental Management System Audit (ISO 14000)
An EMS meeting the requirements of ISO 14001:2004 is a management tool enabling an organization of any size or type to:

    • identify and control the environmental impact of its activities, products or services, and to
    • improve its environmental performance continually, and to
    • implement a systematic approach to setting environmental objectives and targets, to achieving these and to demonstrating that they have been achieved.

Quality Management System Audit (ISO 9000)
The success of an organization comes with satisfied customers. To keep customers satisfied, the organization needs to meet their requirements. The ISO 9001:2008 standard provides a tried and tested framework for taking a systematic approach to managing the organization's processes so that they consistently turn out product that satisfies customers' expectations.

Occupational Health and Safety Advisory Services (OHSAS 18000)
OHSAS 18001 is an international occupational health and safety (OHS) management system standard. OHSAS 18001 is designed to enable organizations to demonstrate their commitment to providing a safe and efficient working environment by identifying and understanding their OHS risks and by improving upon their performance by actively managing these opportunities. Organizations that adopt the OHSAS 18001 standard see immediate benefits, such as improvement in worker safety consciousness and morale, reductions in accidents, claims and lost work days, and better preparedness for regulatory inspections.

Integrated Management System (including EMS, QMS and OHSAS)
An integrated management system is a management system that integrates all of an organization's systems and processes in to one complete framework, enabling an organization to work as a single unit with unified objectives. With an integrated system, organization becomes a unified whole, with each function aligned behind a single goal, thereby improving the performance of the entire organization.
